Many would wonder and ask, WHY would Facebook discontinue the picture sync functionality from January 10?. I particularly believe the Facebook sync is the best innovation Facebook had incorporated in the last 5 years because it helps me keep pictures i don’t need yet. You’ll be surprise at the amount of pictures i have on Facebook unpublished to the net. it was my de-facto cloud server for pictures.
Its common knowledge that come 10th January in Nigeria and other African Nations the Facebook functionality that helps us synchronizes all those images taken on our mobile devices would be discontinued.
The Facebook sync had helped us backup our pictures direct on Facebook, save them there and then we can delete the pictures from the device so as to create space on our device and then take our time to post them when we feel like later on.
However, Facebook will not be discontinuing the Sync-functionality without replacing it with something deemed much better reasons why they are introducing the "Facebook Moments". Moments keeps all of your synced photos organized and even lets you search them to find the ones that you or specific friends are in.
According to Facebook "When you go to a wedding, for example, there are many people taking great photos throughout the day. You all want a quick way to share your photos with the friends who are in them, and get photos that you’re in back. The same is true for smaller events too, like a kayak trip or a night out."
"Syncing photos with the Moments app is a private way to give photos to friends and get the photos you didn’t take. Moments groups the photos on your phone based on when they were taken and, using facial recognition technology, which friends are in them. You can then privately sync those photos quickly and easily with specific friends, and they can choose to sync their photos with you as well. Now, you and your friends have all the photos you took together."
